Last 26th june in Calcinate, in the province of Bergamo, the inauguration ceremony of the new production plant of IMS Technologies, a global leader in the design and production of high-tech machinery for the converting and packaging sectors, was held.
In the presence of the Authorities, representatives of the local community, and company management, President Paolo Clerici and CEO Stefano Bartolini cut the ribbon of the new building which, with an area of 5,500 square meters, brings the total area of the group to 28,500 square meters. This new expansion phase follows the concentration of all assembly activities in Italy, which occurred in 2021 with the closure of the production plant in Darmstadt, Germany.
Currently, IMS Technologies has its headquarters in Italy – in Calcinate (Bergamo), production sites in the provinces of Bergamo and Alessandria, and sales offices and after-sales services in Germany, the USA, and China.
The expansion project of the Calcinate campus, which lasted about a year, led not only to the construction of a new building but also to the creation of new changing rooms and offices, a break area, an ecological island, and a new large parking lot.
The construction followed three fundamental guidelines: ensuring the maximum functionality of the structures, ensuring the safety of all operators, and promoting sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact.
The increase in size has primarily allowed for the redefinition and optimization of the assembly and testing activities of the machines, thus meeting the needs of an ever-evolving market.
Internal logistics have been improved thanks to a new road system that separates the flow of goods handling vehicles from that of cars, ensuring the safety of employees and visitors. The new building is also equipped with a floor heating system with a heat pump, a modern solution not yet widely used in the industrial sector, which guarantees maximum comfort in the factory while being environmentally friendly, aiming to reduce consumption and increase sustainability.
For the same purpose, a photovoltaic panel system with a power of 350 kWp was installed, adding to the power already produced by the panels on the roof of the existing building, for a total of 700 kWp. The estimated energy saving corresponds to about 400 tons of carbon dioxide per year, equivalent to over 20,000 trees.
Finally, the project was designed to be modular, to accommodate any further expansions that business growth might make necessary.
“The new building is the perfect metaphor for a company that aspires to become a global leader, through the provision of innovative products and services and the creation of lasting value for itself and its customers,” said Paolo Clerici, President of IMS Technologies and President and CEO of Coeclerici.
“The inauguration of the new facility is a proud moment for IMS Technologies and represents a clear and tangible sign of our company’s growth. We are excited to share this milestone with our employees, partners, and the local community,” added Stefano Bartolini, CEO of IMS Technologies.
