Bimec presented itself at drupa with important updates for the TF slitter-rewinder, now able of unwinding mother rolls up to 1 meter in diameter and winding finished rolls up to a maximum of 600 mm; in the interview with Elena Bottoli, we speak also about Bimec’s entry into the Flex Converting Alliance
Drupa 2024, one of the most important world fairs on printing and converting technologies, if not the most important ever, ended last June 7th in Düsseldorf (Germany) and BIMEC was an absolute protagonist in this event, considering the latest technological innovations in the field of flexible packaging converting. The company, that has always been managed by Bottoli family, has presented important innovations for its TF model. Another meaningful novelty was its recent entry into the Flex Converting Alliance (FlexCA), together with Uteco, GAP Italy , CMG, SmartJet and Vision, an alliance where leading companies in their respective sectors come together to present themselves to the market with a unique offer, from extrusion to printing technologies, through vision control systems of quality, up to cutting and converting solutions, thanks to the technologies proposed by BIMEC.
But how did the fair go? Here is the point of view by Elena Bottoli, that we interviewed.
Face to face with Elena Bottoli, BIMEC marketing manager
Let’s speak about the new updates of the slitter-rewinder TF and the reaction of visitors during the exhibition.
“We chose this occasion for the public debut of our new TF: the duplex slitter-rewinder with winding and unwinding on the same side. In addition to the traditional advantages that made it so popular in the market such as ergonomics, productivity and compactness, the TF can now process reels up to one meter in diameter in unwind! Its capacity increases, its stability remains unchanged: a great plus, and the specialists who came to our stand immediately took it up and appreciated it. Its design blends the best of two Bimec slitter series: compactness, user-friendliness and ergonomics of the STB 550 front model, combined with the speed, winding technical solutions and equipment of the TCA series, such as the cross cutting of the material tails and the horizontally sliding press roll system. Innovative design and engineering limit spaces and heights and produce results that would normally be achieved using larger slitters with an unwind carriage at the rear. The front structure not only adds compactness to the machine and reduces its footprint, but also gives the possibility of combining other types of machinery at the back such as inspection machines, laser cutting machines, micro or macro perforation units, etc. Summing up the TF model is a concentrate of experience, innovation and performance”.
While as regards the slitter-rewinder TCA, one of your hystorical models, is it still requested?
“Obviously, even if our TCA was not the star of our stand, because it is a company evergreen – a Duplex slitter-rewinder, equipped with 3 asynchronous motors and digital inverters – nevertheless captured the attention of professionals in the sector. This confirms that our technology is always up-to-date and perfectly in line with productivity and optimization needs required by the market today”.
So a lot of interests, but as regards negotiations and sells?
“The attention that customers, already acquired or new, have dedicated to us has been concrete and definitely aimed at gaining the competitive advantage that our machines are able to demonstrate and propose. And we are proud to say that our TF will soon be in the production plants of two large companies that appreciated it at the fair and immediately ordered it”.
What does it mean for Bimec to be part of FlexCA?
“We are proud to be part of FlexCA (Flex Converting Alliance), that was created to bring together the best flexible packaging specialists in a virtuous chain and so offer the market complete solutions representing the best of the sector’s technology. Its member companies, including Bimec, bring their respective specializations and the alliance is not only a guarantee for users but also an important center for sharing technology, aimed at profitable and sustainable development and evolution. Right during drupa, FlexCA presented itself to the public through the faces and voices of its representatives, immediately capturing the interest of specialists”.
In conclusion, how can you define your presence at Drupa?
“For us, Drupa 2024 was a success: it confirmed the industry’s trust and attention to our established and innovative technologies. The collaborations we have made and those we are going to make in the future are taking us more and more in the direction of a global market that recognizes, appreciates and demands excellence. And we keep working in this direction”.
