Founded in the early Seventies, Scatolificio Medicinese is an Italian leading company in the production of corrugated packaging, led today by Andrea and Cristina Tullini.

Established in 1974 by Gaetano, Ezio and Maurizio Tullini, the company started its early activities with die-cutting. Growth was seen over the following years and, by the mid-1980s, Scatolificio Medicinese was operating with 7 production lines from 8,000 sqm of factory and storage space.

Significant investments and improvements in the company organization, over the last few years, have led the company to invest in the most recent and advanced technologies to optimise the increasing workflow. Last June 2022, Scatolificio Medicinese chose to widen its own machine stock with a high performance Koenig & Bauer Celmacch Chroma High Tech 1700, with 6 bottom printing units and HBL configuration, placed in line with a Bobst Expertcut* flat bed die cutter. The italian company, based in Medicina, near Bologna, is particularly known for its high definition know-how and high-quality works. The main goal of purchasing the new line Chroma High Tech, thanks to anilox rolls with very high screen rulings, is placing Scatolificio Medicinese as first in the high definition printing market.

The Chroma High Tech was developed according to the highest specifications of European quality standards. This model is fully compatible with most of the available flat bed die cutters in the market. Koenig & Bauer Celmacch’s technicians provide assistance to ensure a perfect connection between the last priting unit and the flat bed die cutter.

The assembly of the whole line takes place in Italy at Koenig & Bauer Celmacch’s factory.  All mechanical parts are manufactured in Italy. The machine is equipped with the most recent and advanced electronic components and direct drive motors – all Siemens branded – to ensure maximum printing accuracy. All direct drives are activated by regenerative power units, which allow to recover the kinetic energy dissipated during braking phases by transforming it into electricity, with a consequential reduction of power consumption. The electrical system has a modular structure, studied to reduce costs and maintenance times, all remarkable features especially for those companies working three shifts all year round. The user-friendly interface allows a simple and intuitive use of the Chroma line for machine operators. Job-changeover can be done without stopping the production process.

The flexo printer chosen by Scatolificio Medicinese is equipped with one Koenig & Bauer Celmacch Sheet Cleaner Cleanplus, designed to remove dust from the sheets to improve print quality, installed between the feeder and the first printing unit; four automatic anilox changeover systems (one in working position and two in deposit), a device that allows to obtain the ideal ink volume according to the production needs and to achieve the best printing definition; six viscometers to measure fluid flow and viscosity of the chosen inks; six Koenig & Bauer Celmacch IR and hot air Drying Systems, which guarantee a fast drying process due to the combination of infra-red lamps and hot air. The inking system is equipped with carbon chambered doctor blades systems developed by Koenig & Bauer Celmacch.

”Customer satisfaction is a primary goal for Koenig & Bauer Celmacch, as our business policy aims to offer a beyond-comparison product quality, combined with competitive operating costs, which ensure a fast return on the investment,” explains Luca Celotti, Koenig & Bauer Celmacch’s General Manager. “A 24 hour after-sale service ensures maximum uptime and reliability, all key factors for success that make Koenig & Bauer Celmacch the best partner for high definition flexo printing.”

“Installation and commissioning of the Chroma Print took place quickly, allowing Scatolificio Medicinese to start up production on schedule,” underlines Luca Celotti. “By choosing Koenig & Bauer Celmacch as its partner for high definition flexographic printing, Scatolificio Medicinese chose consequently one of the most advanced flexographic printers available on the market. It will provide them with high levels of performance thanks to user-friendly technology and reduced maintenance costs. Using readily available commercial parts helps them to eliminate stocking dedicated parts, freeing up precious resources”.
