Simec Group and OMET: collaboration for the new CABOLL cylinder

Among the various and interesting ideas proposed by the edition of Future Factory last September in Milan, we found particularly interesting the project presented on stage by Simec Group and Omet, who shared the results of the joint improvement of a technology that promises to revolutionize the market of anilox. With the common goal of raising the quality bar of flexographic printing in the narrow web sector for labels and offering printers effective and innovative solutions, the two Lombard companies collaborated in the testing phase of the new CABOLL cylinder.

“The continuous innovation of products is today more than ever a fundamental aspect to meet the needs of the primary OEMs to find spare parts that match the performance of their machines. In our case, the goal is not to align with their performance, but to maximize it. And for this is required a joint R&D effort”, says Laura Della Torre, Managing Director of Simec Group.
“We collaborated with Simec throughout the testing phase, contributing our experience and our ideas to give some suggestions and we must say that the results obtained are very satisfactory and we look forward to offer this opportunity to our customers. The development of the market today is based on the communication of needs between the various players in the supply chain and on the ability of manufacturers to propose valid solutions by always questioning themselves and also trusting the ideas and proposals of their partners”, commented Marco Calcagni, Omet Sales and Marketing Director.
A winning case history that Simec Group wants to replicate with the primary OEMs operating in other industries to acquire new market shares and consolidate the high-end positioning in all sectors in which its applications are already widespread.

But let’s see specifically what CABOLL is and how the two companies have collaborated in the development of this solution that should revolutionize anilox sector.
Beyond the best expectations, the first feedback from customers who welcomed CABOLL as a real innovation in the anilox world. First of all in terms of sustainability: the new coating developed for this product has a lower impact on the environment than traditional chromium oxide. Secondly, but not in order of importance, it allows to drastically reduce washing times and cycles compared to any other anilox. Furthermore, the printing results, data at hand, are surprising and indisputably superior even to those ensured by the best Simec ceramics cylinders, already considered super premium by primary systems manufacturers and end-users.

In order to offer CABOLL to the market, Simec Group has expanded the structure of Montefino, in Abruzzo, an automated production site specialized in laser engraving, with a new 6000 sm plant entirely dedicated to the new brand, as a really lean logic commands.

The partner chosen by Simec for testing and fine-tuning of this new product is Omet which, as usual, welcomed this novelty with the typical mistrust of the scientific approach, looking above all for results rather than words. Marco Calcagni states: “the reality is that our printing specialist who followed the entire testing phase immediately understood that it was a true and extremely valid innovation. The test was carried out on our XFlex X6, which 15 years after its revolutionary presentation on the market remains the most performing and easy to use narrow web machine for flexo printing of labels and flexible packaging, thanks to the pre-register and to Omet’s patented Vision print control still unmatched. But we are sure that the considerable advantages of this solution can be obtained on any machine, at least I can guarantee for Omet machines”.
